Well for a start, Claire Owen decided 18 years ago that she wanted to create an independent marketing recruitment company that cares about people rather than the financial bottom line. We’re matchmakers not brokers, guided by our hearts as much as our heads. With these values in mind, Stopgap was founded in 1993. Run by ex-marketers, it was the first specialist freelance recruitment agency in the UK.
It’s now 2011 and although those initial values haven’t changed, the name has (a little)! Due to our success branching into the permanent, executive search and interim side of marketing recruitment, the decision was made to create a company ‘umbrella’ under which all of these great services would sit – the Stopgap Group! We now consist of Stopgap, for freelance and permanent marketing recruitment (comprising offices in Richmond and Leamington Spa), Fitzroy for senior marketing jobs, and Stopgap Australia down in Sydney!
